Sridevi was born as Shree Amma Yanger to Ayyapan and Rajeswari on 13 August 1963 in Sivakasi, Tamil Nadu. Sridevi is often cited by film media as one of the best actresses of Hindi Cinema. During her career, she has won four Filmfare Awards-two for Hindi films, and one each for Tamil and Telugu films. After going on to establish herself as one of the leading actresses of the 1980s and early 1990s, she left the industry in 1997 to raise her children.
